For a thoughtful hostess gift or for your own kitchen, these dishcloths work up quickly.
Approx 8 1/2 inches square
- Worsted weight yarn* (2 1/2 oz/120 yds/70g per ball): 1 ball cornflower #00083 (A)
- Worsted weight yarn* (2 oz/95 yds/56g per ball): 1 ball cool breeze ombre #00227 (B)
- Size 6 (4mm) needles or size needed to obtain gauge
*Sample project was completed with Sugar'n Cream (100 percent cotton) from Lily.
20 sts = 4 inches/10cm
To save time, take time to check gauge.
Set of 2 dishcloths is made with 1 ball of each color. Second cloth is made by reversing colors A and B.
Slip all sts purlwise with yarn in back of work (on WS in Row 5, RS on Row 6).
Carry color not in use along edge.
With A, cast on 41 sts.
Knit 4 rows.
Row 1 (RS): With A, knit.
Row 2: K3, purl to last 3 sts, end k3.
Rows 3 and 4: Rep Rows 1 and 2.
Row 5: With B, k3, sl 2 wyib, * [k1, yo, k1] in next st, sl 2 wyib; rep from * to last 3 sts, end k3.
Row 6: K3, sl 2 wyib, *k3tog-tbl, sl 2 wyib; rep from * to last 3 sts, end k3.
Rows 7-54: Rep [Rows 1-6] 8 times more.
Rows 55 and 56: Rep Rows 1 and 2.
Knit 3 rows.
Bind off all sts.
